Tropic, a Norwich-based agtech startup, has secured an oversubscribed €91.3 million ($105 million) Series C funding round to enhance its banana and rice portfolios and advance climate-resilient crops. The round was co-led by Forbion and Corteva, with participation from Just Climate, IQ Capital, and others. Tropic aims to tackle global food security challenges by developing disease-resistant and high-yield tropical crops using its proprietary geigs® platform and gene-editing technologies. The funding will support large-scale production and expansion into new crops.
